CELPIP - Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program
CELPIP (Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program) is an English language test designed to assess the English language proficiency of individuals who want to study, work, or immigrate to Canada. The test evaluates four language skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
CELPIP is recognized by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) as a proof of English language proficiency for immigration purposes. It is also accepted by many universities, colleges, and employers in Canada.
CELPIP test is categorized in two versions one is CELPIP-General, and the other one is CELPIP-General LS. Both versions are designed to evaluate English skills.
CELPIP-General is specifically designed for PR applicants. In a 3 hour test candidate’s Speaking, Writing, Reading and Listening skills will be judged.
In the Speaking section, questions will appear on screen and candidates have to answer them verbally. Total time allocated for this section is 15-20 minutes.
In the Writing section, candidates need to answer the questions in written format. They will get 53-60 minutes to complete this task.
In the Reading module, a reading passage will be given along with questions and candidates need to answer these questions in 55-60 minutes.
In the Listening section, a listening passage will be given along with questions and candidates need to answer these questions in 47-55 minutes.
In CELPIP some of the questions are unscored; they are just included to maintain the test format. There is no visible difference between scored and unscored test items so you have to attempt each and every question carefully.
